My Go-To Hair Products

IMG_1005.JPG

I often get asked what products I use on my hair, so I finally decided to round them up for you all! I am pretty particular about my hair, so when I find a product I like, I stick to it. These are all items I have used for a long time and love. You will find that many of the products I use and recommend are by Aveda. This post is not at all sponsored by them (or any other brand), but I just really love their products. I also included a budget friendly alternative for some of my recommendations.

SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER:

I rotate between a few shampoos and conditioners because they treat different conditions of my hair. Since I get highlights, I use COLOR CONSERVE SHAMPOO and COLOR CONSERVE CONDITIONER. My hair is also frizzy, so I like to use SMOOTH INFUSION SHAMPOO and SMOOTH INFUSION CONDITIONER.

Budget Friendly Alternative: I have used this KERATIN THERAPY SHAMPOO & KERATIN THERAPY CONDITIONER and really like them as an affordable alternative. These products help with smoothness and are about a third of the price of my smoothing shampoo and conditioner.

STYLE PREP:

After I wash my hair, I use a few styling products while it is still wet. I use one pump of this STYLING FOAM at my roots which helps with volume and overall shine. It smells amazing too! I also use two pumps of STYLE PREP SMOOTHER which helps keep my hair smooth and repel humidity.

Budget Friendly Alternative: This FRIZZ EASE SERUM can be used on wet or dry hair to help with frizz and fly aways. It is a great two-in-one product for around $10.

FINISHING PRODUCTS:

Once my hair is dry, I run a very small amount of ANTI-HUMECTANT POMANDE through my hair. Put a little bit on your hands, rub your palms together, then run your palms through your hair. I do not rub it on the roots so that I don’t weigh down my hair.  (Note: You just need a tiny bit. If you use too much, your hair may feel greasy.) This container of pomade will last a really long time since you don’t use much at at time. I finish off my hair with AIR CONTROL HAIRSPRAY as it is a light mist and does not weigh my hair down.

Budget Friendly Alternative: If you don’t want to spend as much on hairspray, this AIRSPRAY offers a medium hold for around $5.

BRUSHES & COMBS:

When my hair is wet, I like to use this WET BRUSH as I find it is easier to comb through any tangles. While I am drying my hair, I use a ROUND BRUSH. This helps smooth and shine my hair. The brush comes in several sizes and I use the 2-1/8 size.

HOT HAIR TOOLS:

If I had to go on a trip with only one product, it would be my BABYLISS FLAT IRON. I discovered this brand because my stylist has used it on me for years, and I think it gets my hair the smoothest. It is a pricier option, but worth it (for me) since I like a really clean smooth look. I have the 1 inch size.

I have been using this CHI HAIR DRYER for a while and really like it. It dries my hair quickly and has an Ion generator to help with frizz. I have heard rave reviews about the DYSON HAIR DRYER, but cannot bring myself to invest $400 in a hair dryer. The people I know who have it, love it though!

Budget Friendly Alternative: A CHI TRAVEL KIT with a similar hair dryer to mine plus a Chi flat iron like my daughter uses is available for less than the cost of my flat iron alone. I have used the Chi on my hair as well and think it a great option, particularly for the price.
