Leopard cardigan here and here \\ Black cami \\ Brown beaded necklace \\
(Get 20% off the earrings and necklace by entering code "Laura20" at checkout)

Hi everyone!  If you have been following along on Instagram, you have probably noticed that I am a HUGE fan of leopard print.  I think it is so versatile and can work as a neutral with just about anything.  I have many items with leopard print in my closet, and wanted to share a few ways to wear this fun trend.

The first and most obvious way to style leopard print is with an article of clothing.  You can find pretty much any item in this print - shirts, skirts, pants and sweaters.  Here I am wearing a cozy cardigan in the print.  Because the sweater has a bold pattern, I opted for more basics with the rest of my outfit like a solid color cami, jeans and booties.

If wearing this much leopard isn't your thing, another great way to add this trend to your wardrobe is with some leopard shoes.  You can find sneakers, mules, flats, heels & booties all with the print.  I have found shoes at just about any retailer and at any price point, so you are sure to find a style you like.  You can see three of the style options above.  This print looks great with any solid color and is an easy way to add some fun to a more basic outfit.

A more subtle option to incorporate some leopard in your wardrobe is with an accessory such as a purse or a scarf.  I use this leopard clutch all the time and it works with so many outfits.  Because most leopard items have both brown and black in them, you are able to wear it with most anything in your closet.  I have linked a few other leopard purses styles in addition to the clutch.  And this scarf will be one of the best items you ever purchase!  It is under $20 and goes with everything!

I hope this post gave you some ideas on how to incorporate leopard print in to your wardrobe if you don't already have any.  It really is so versatile and a must have in any wardrobe!  As always, thanks so much for reading Smart Southern Style!

Jersey Knit Dress Styled Two Ways

Additional jersey knit dresses here, here and here

Hi everyone!  Today I wanted to share an easy way to get more wear out of a classic piece.  You probably already have a basic jersey knit dress in your closet.  And if you don't, I have linked several options above!  This is a timeless piece and you can find nice solid knit dresses for under $30.  I wanted to show you two ways to style this type of dress by swapping out accessories and shoes.

Traditionally, I like to style dresses like this in a more casual way.  Here I paired this turtleneck dress with a blanket scarf, and since the holidays are upon is, I chose one that had reds and greens in it.  However, this dark green dress would also look great with a scarf with tans, blacks, and even pink tones!  I opted to wear over the knee tan boots, but you could also wear booties, flats or even some cute sneakers with this dress.  I chose a solid color tan purse that matched my boots and some gold accessories.  This is an easy outfit to throw on, yet still look put together.

Although I generally opt for a casual look with jersey dresses, you can also easily dress them up for a night out.  Here, I swapped out my boots for some fun embroidered heels. And instead of a blanket scarf, I chose to wear a statement necklace.  I also swapped out my bracelet and earrings for some with a little bling.  Instead of the basic tan purse I wore with the casual look, I paired the dress with a leopard clutch to add another pattern for some fun.

You probably already have most if not all of the items in your closet to get multiple looks from a simple jersey dress.  I hope this post gave you a few new ideas about how to get more wear out of what is already in your closet.  Thanks so much for reading Smart Southern Style!  I appreciate you all!

Fall Closet Staple - The Cowl Neck Tunic

Similar tassel necklace here and here \\
More cowl neck tunic options here, here & here
(Use code "Laura20" at check out to get 20% off the earrings & necklaces!)

Hi everyone!  Today on the blog, I’m talking about a really versatile staple that we all need in our closet - a cowl neck tunic!  This is a classic piece that is flattering on all body types and you can style so many different ways.

Here I’ve paired mine with skinny jeans and booties.  For a work day at the office, I’ve also worn tunics like this with dress pants.  You could also pair one with some faux leather leggings & heels for a night out!  Or even wear it with casual leggings and sneakers for a super comfy look.  So many possibilities!

Because of the large cowl neck, if you want to wear the tunic with a necklace, I would recommend a long necklace so you can easily see it.  I paired mine with a contrasting color tassel necklace so it would stand out.  The cowl neck tunic that I am wearing (as well as the rest of my outfit) is linked above, along with some other tunic options that I am loving right now.

I would love to hear - what is a closet staple that you can’t live without?  Please comment below or send me an email to let me know.  Thanks so much for reading Smart Southern Style!

"The Laura" Black Ruffle Sleeve Dress

Black ruffle sleeve dress \\ Similar burgundy boots here and here \\

Hi everyone!  As promised, I am back with another amazing dress from Page 6 Boutique.  If you read my last blog entry, you will know that I found some great dresses there recently that I wanted to share with all of you.  I wrote about a fun green embroidered dress on Tuesday, and am back to talk about this pretty black ruffle sleeve dress.  This is one of my favorite dresses I have ever owned because it is so versatile.

Because I love it so much, Page 6 Boutique was sweet enough to name the dress after yours truly, so it's called "The Laura Dress"!  Y'all, I really can't say enough good things about this dress.  First, the sleeves - I mean tiered ruffle 3/4 sleeves - what's not to love?!?  Because they are not full length, you could really wear this dress all year long.  I paired it with over the knee boots, but it would also look great with booties or even wedges in the spring.

The material is a knit, so it is soft, comfortable and super flattering. I love the length of the dress as well. It is not too short for us ladies who aren't fans of showing a bunch of leg.  Yet, it is short enough to look fashionable!  I paired my dress with some long necklaces, but it would also look great with a scarf in the fall or winter, or even a dressier statement necklace for a night out.

This dress is so affordable too!  It is only $46, and if you use code "Laura20" at check out, you will save an extra 20%, so this amazing dress will be under $40.  Such a crazy good deal, and I promise you will get so much use out of it.  If you buy "The Laura Dress", please let me know and send me a photo!  Thanks to all of you for reading and thank you to Page 6 Boutique for sponsoring this post.

Umgee Green Embroidered Dress

Hi everyone!  This week on the blog, I am sharing two of my favorite fall dresses, both from Page 6 Boutique.  Page 6 Boutique is one of my favorite places to shop, as they have so many cute items that are all really affordable!  Tonight, I am talking about this beautiful green embroidered dress by Umgee.  If you read the second part of my fall trends series on the blog, you already know that I am a HUGE fan of embroidery right now!  So, when I saw this dress, I knew I had to have it.

I absolutely love the green color and think it would be beautiful on any skin type.  The style of dress is nice and loose, so it works with any body type.   I love the color and style, but the pretty embroidery on the arms and bodice are my favorite part of the dress.  The colors just scream "fall", don't you think?!? is super affordable too! The dress costs less than $50, and if you keep reading, you will find a way to buy it for even less!

I'm not super comfortable showing a lot of leg (just keepin' it real, ladies!), so I styled this dress with some black over the knee boots.  It would also look really cute with booties.  Or, if you are taller, you could wear the dress as a tunic over some leggings.  Lots of possibilities!

Because the dress has some ties with fringe at the neck, you don't need to wear a necklace.  I added some fun beaded bracelets and gold earrings for a casual look.  This outfit would be perfect for a night out or Thanksgiving dinner (the loose flowy bodice will come in handy after eating all that yummy food)!  I added a leopard print clutch because I think leopard goes with just about everything!

You can save 20% on the dress here when you use code "Laura20" at check out.  A big thanks to Page 6 Boutique for sponsoring this post.  I hope you come back on Thursday when I share another pretty dress from Page 6 Boutique!

Layered Ruffle Sleeve Sweater

Hi everyone!  First off, my apologies for not getting this blog post up yesterday.  I had some technical difficulties, but am back in business today!  If you have been following along on my Instagram, you'll know that I am in LOVE with sweaters that have a fun sleeve - bell sleeve, ruffle sleeve, puffy sleeve - you name it!  I think they add some feminine fun and can make a simple item look so chic.

When I saw this plum colored ruffle sleeve sweater, I knew I had to have it.  The layered ruffle sleeves are bold yet aren't too long!  And the length is nice, as it comes to your hips and is perfect when you want to wear a sweater but not a long cardigan.  The sweater is also a good weight - it keeps you warm but is not too bulky.

Now...what to pair with it??  Because the sleeves are so bold, I think it looks best with a simple cami or tee underneath.  I paired my sweater with jeans, but it would also look good with grey pants or even white jeans.  I added a gold necklace and statement earrings.  The earrings are far enough from the bold sleeves that they don't overpower each other.

I finished off the outfit with some leopard slides, because - well, leopard - enough said!  You could also wear some booties, over the knee boots, or even heels for a dressier look.  I chose a neutral color bag since I had a bold sweater and leopard print already included in my outfit.

If you buy anything from this post, I would love to hear about it.  And if there are any particular items you want to hear about on here, please let me know!  Thanks so much for reading Smart Southern Style!
